Luna Backup HSM 7 Firmware v7.9.3 and UC v10.9.4 Now Available

Thales is pleased to announce the availability of Luna Backup HSM 7 Firmware v7.9.3 and Luna HSM Universal Client (UC) v10.9.4, delivering new post-quantum cryptography (PQC) capabilities that strengthen quantum-safe protection across the cryptographic key lifecycle.

This release marks another important milestone in the Luna HSM PQC strategy, enhancing quantum-safe protection to backup and restore operations and helping customers protect their cryptographic infrastructure against emerging threats, including Harvest Now, Decrypt Later (HNDL) attacks.

Quantum-Safe Backup and Restore

Luna Backup HSM 7 Firmware v7.9.3 expands hybrid quantum-safe protection for the backup and restore of both classical and post-quantum keys.

Key benefits include:

  • Backup and restore classical and post-quantum keys across all Luna partition modes
  • Enable quantum-safe communications with Luna Backup HSM 7, helping protect against HNDL threats
  • Simplify backup and restore operations as organizations transition to post-quantum cryptography

PQC Across Every Luna HSM Form Factor

With this release, Thales is the first HSM vendor to support post-quantum cryptography across Network, PCIe, and USB HSM form factors. Customers can secure the complete cryptographic key lifecycle with quantum-safe mechanisms, from key generation and use through backup and restore, in a streamlined process.

Post-Quantum PKI Integration with Microsoft AD CS

Luna HSM Universal Client v10.9.4 adds ML-DSA capabilities through the Luna Key Storage Provider (KSP), enabling customers using Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) to issue quantum-safe certificates with Luna HSMs.

Simplified Adoption with UC v10.9.4

In addition to Microsoft AD CS support, Luna HSM UC v10.9.4 enables customers to use the new Luna Backup HSM 7 Firmware v7.9.3 capabilities and includes the latest bug and security fixes.
