Luna HSM Firmware v7.9.3, and UC v10.9.3 Now Available

Thales is pleased to announce the availability of the latest Luna HSM updates, delivering new capabilities that strengthen crypto agility, simplify certificate lifecycle management, improve performance, and support evolving compliance requirements.

New Features and Enhancements

Bring Your Own NTLS Keys and Certificates

This new feature gives customers greater control over certificate lifecycle management by allowing them to use their own certificate management platform for Luna HSM client keys and certificates.

Key benefits include:

  • Integration with existing enterprise certificate lifecycle workflows
  • Support for automated provisioning, rotation, and renewal of client keys and certificates
  • Improved operational efficiency
  • Better alignment with internal security and compliance requirements

Crypto Agility Enhancements

This release also introduces several updates designed to help future-proof cryptographic requirements with modern, standards-aligned capabilities.

Advanced Encryption Support

  • Adds AES-GCM with FIPS-compliant IV handling
  • Enables stronger encryption and support for significantly larger data volumes

Stronger Password-Based Encryption

  • Upgrades PBKDF2 to use SHA-2
  • Replaces deprecated SHA-1 to improve overall security posture

FIPS Alignment

  • Includes enhancements to support FIPS-compliant cryptographic operations
  • Helps organizations meet evolving regulatory and industry requirements
