Customer release notes for SafeNet ProtectFile v8.1 for Windows and Linux are now available for download. These are maintenance releases that include the following enhancements:
SafeNet ProtectFile Windows v8.1
- Network attached storage (NAS) support
- Full drive encryption support, i.e., D:\ or E:\
- Microsoft cluster support
- Access control expanded to include “Encrypt Only” permissions
- Extended platform support to Windows 2012 R2
- Other internal product enhancements

- Interoperability between ProtectFile Windows and ProtectFile Linux
- AES-256 keys for encryption
- Expanded platform support to Ubuntu Long Term Support (LTS) 12.04 & 14.04
- Implementation of Automation Helpers 2.0 migration that improves performance and is common to all variants of Hadoop and Linux
- Expanded ecosystem to include the following tested and verified integrations: DB2, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, MySQL, MySQL (MariaDB), IBM Hadoop (IBM InfoSphere BigInsights)
- Other internal product enhancements
